Structural Engineer (4-8+ years)

SGM is seeking a full-time experienced (4-8+ years) Structural Engineer for our Glenwood Springs, CO office. Overall responsibilities will include providing structural engineering technical leadership and project management for building projects, mentoring and supervising junior engineers, fostering strong client relationships, and developing new business. Preferred technical skills/experience include the design of commercial and residential structures; experience with other civil structures such as retaining walls, vaults, and pump stations is a plus but is not required; understanding of permitting and regulations related to structural projects; building inspection experience; and preparation of drawings, specifications, and contract documents. The successful candidate is expected to be a team player and have strong communication skills.

Qualifications:

  • 4-8+ years of relevant experience
  • Consulting engineering experience
  • Residential and commercial structures design experience
  • Project management experience, including coordination of multiple disciplines and sub-consultants

Mid-Level (4-8+ years) Bridge Structural Engineer

SGM is seeking a full-time experienced Bridge Structural Engineer for our Glenwood Springs, CO office. Our team is responsible for the design, load rating, and inspection of bridges, retaining walls, and miscellaneous structures for a variety of public and private clients on the West Slope of Colorado. The key responsibilities for this position include working and coordinating with a multi-disciplinary team, development of construction documents for structural projects, and self-managing design tasks with attention to the project scope, schedule, and budget. The successful candidate must be a fast learner who is an organized self-starter with a strong attention to detail. The candidate is expected to be a team player with strong written and verbal communication skills and a strong desire to live, work and play in Western Colorado.

Qualifications:

  • 4-8+ years of experience in the design and construction of concrete and steel bridges
  • Colorado PE license or ability to transfer license from another state within 6 months
  • BS degree in Structural Engineering, or Civil Engineering with a Structural focus
  • Detailed knowledge and understanding of the AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications

Municipal Engineering Team Leader

SGM is currently seeking a Municipal Engineering Team Leader for our Glenwood Springs office. The roles and responsibilities of a consulting municipal engineer vary depending on the type of client they are representing. Most importantly he or she must be a well-rounded engineer who has experience in most if not all aspects of municipal engineering including but not limited to:

  • Land development and the application review process
  • Civil engineering including drainage analysis and design, site design and grading, streetscapes, permitting, etc.
  • Water and wastewater systems and potentially other utilities such as electric, stormwater, and more
  • Road and trail design and construction
  • Capital improvement planning, budgeting, and municipal financing
  • Traffic engineering
  • Asset management and the maintenance and operation of facilities, parks, etc.

Qualifications:

  • Senior-level experience in municipal engineering or a related engineering field, including project management experience with a strong performance record
  • Strong written and oral communication skills including public speaking and the ability to appropriately gauge the needs of the situation and adapt the communication style accordingly
  • Excellent client service skills with increasing experience as a lead client service/relationship manager, especially with municipal/special district clients

Electrical Design Engineer

Our Glenwood Springs, Colorado office is currently seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to join our team. Our projects consist of a diverse mix from the municipal, commercial, industrial, and residential arenas.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Strong desire to live, work, and play in Western Colorado and preferably in the Roaring Fork Valley
  • Current Colorado registered Engineer in Training status (out of state registrants may be considered provided the candidate has the capability to acquire an in-state status within 6 months of hire)
  • Ability and desire to obtain Professional Engineer licensure
  • 1 year or more of related experience in the following areas:
    • Building power systems design for commercial and buildings or municipal assets (premises wiring). Tasks might include conductor and breaker sizing, receptacle layout, populating panel schedules, and basic NEC calculations
    • General understanding of the NEC, building codes and construction practices
    • Some working knowledge of Revit and AutoCAD, and basic use of Microsoft Office products
    • Setup and production of engineering plans and details
  • Able to coordinate design efforts with direction from senior engineers and multiple departments

Our Glenwood office is currently seeking a full-time Survey CAD Technician to join our Survey Team. The Survey Team specializes in a variety of Surveys such as: ALTA’s, LSP’s, Topographic Surveys, Subdivision Plats, Improvement Survey Plats, Property and Easement Descriptions, and Exhibits and for both public and private sector clients.

Principal Duties:

  • Work with Project Managers & Project Surveyors completing survey a variety of survey drafting tasks to include ISP’s, subdivision plats, Topographic surveys, ALTA, boundary, ROW, and SUE deliverables
  • Job Calculation (Reviewing of field crew notes)
  • Proficient in combining topographic surfaces – LIDAR and traditional survey surfaces with points and breaklines
  • Coordinating with Crew Chiefs and Project Managers, as well as other draftsmen
  • Be passionate about providing the highest level of customer service in the industry
  • Work proactively with coworkers to maximize efficiency and project performance

Qualifications:

  • 3 years of prior survey related drafting experience
