Structural Team Members
The Structural Team at SGM is led by Bill Swigert, PE, SE and includes six registered engineers, three of whom also possess masters degrees in structural engineering. Each member of our team has a specific technical focus including bridge design, commercial building design, concrete tank design and wood construction. Each team member brings a unique dynamic to the design and management of our projects.
Bill Swigert, PE, SE
Bill has over 30 years of professional engineering design and management experience. Also a principal of the company and a civil/structural engineer, Bill has worked with SGM since 2000 and has been involved with the design and management of most types of building and civil structures. His project experience includes commercial, residential, and industrial buildings; as well as bridges, tankages, dams, power plants and DOD/DOE facilities.
Mike Fowler, PE
Mike has 12 years of combined experience in the design and management of bridge and roadway projects for numerous governmental agencies and private clients through all design phases, from conceptual feasibility studies to final design and construction support. His experience ranges from small bridge projects to large design-build transportation projects, spanning 10 states across the western U.S. Prior to joining SGM in 2008, Mike designed interstate highway bridges, special-use vehicular bridges, railroad bridges, pedestrian bridges and retaining walls. These structures also represent a diverse set of design elements including: conventional concrete, precast/pre-stressed concrete, post-tensioned concrete, steel, timber, seismic design and multiple foundation types.
Mindy Pennington, PE
Mindy, a structural design engineer, has worked for SGM since 2003 providing details as required for permit and construction of structures using wood, steel, and concrete. Her project experience ranges from high-end custom residences to municipal structures. In addition to new building design, Mindy also has experience in project bid and construction phases; and structural observations for repairs and renovations. She has provided essential architectural and building engineering design on a number of wastewater treatment plant projects. She has also taken a lead role in the development and quality control of the Structural Team's design and CAD standards.
Nathan Torres, PE
Nate has been part of the engineering design for numerous large custom residences on the Front Range of Colorado and the Roaring Fork Valley working with architects and contractors to provide a final design that is both aesthetically pleasing for the client and simple to build for the contractor. Since joining SGM, Nate has also been involved in a variety of structural engineering projects, focusing particularly on the analysis and design of concrete tankages for our wastewater treatment plant projects and the design of simple span bridges.
Mo Alkhoudairy
Mo is the Structural Team's AutoCAD designer and 3D CAD modeling expert. He is a licensed construction contractor and brings a hands-on, real world perspective to our projects. His understanding of how buildings are constructed enables him to translate the engineer's designs into plan sheet details that are unambiguous and constructible.
Mike Jennings, PE
Mike has been with SGM since 2007. His position in the Crested Butte office requires him to wear many hats including project manager, design engineer and drafter. Mike has over six years of experience in design and management of structural and civil projects for private, municipal and county entities. He has designed various types of foundations for challenging soil conditions, bridges, post-tensioned buildings, parking structures and rock anchor systems.
John Boulden, PE
With family roots on the western slope, John returned from the front range to work in SGM's new Grand Junction office. He has extensive experience in the structural and geo-structural design field. His experience includes design of commercial and residential structures and foundations as well as foundation repair and retaining wall design. He recently earned his masters degree from Colorado State University in Structural Engineering.
