Warren Swanson, PE - Drinking Water Team Leader
Warren leads the Drinking Water Team and serves more broadly as SGM’s Water Services Sector Leader. He integrates the services of SGM’s drinking water engineers, watershed consultants, and water rights/water resources engineers and assembles multi-disciplinary teams. Warren thrives on working closely with clients. He loves to bring state-of-the-art drinking water technology, water utility practices and tools, and industry know-how to small water utilities at a reasonable cost. Warren regularly presents on an array of technical topics at regional water conferences. He has also presented numerous papers at national AWWA-sponsored events.

Warren has 14 years of drinking water consulting experience. Prior to joining SGM in 2002, Warren helped provide innovative engineering solutions to clients around the country including USEPA, American Water Works Association Research Foundation (AWWARF), Tucson Water (AZ), Tampa Bay Water (FL), the City of Fort Worth (TX), the City of Scottsdale (AZ) and the Phoenix Water Services Department (AZ). Warren’s technical expertise includes: drinking water quality and chemistry; water treatment process evaluation, modeling, and bench-/pilot-scale testing; water treatment facility design and optimization; water system master planning; hydraulics and pumping systems design; water distribution system hydraulic modeling; water conservation planning; and drinking water regulatory compliance assistance.

Brad Zachman, PE
Brad brings a unique and valuable combination of engineering, operations and research experience to SGM’s Drinking Water Team. He holds an MS degree in civil engineering, a BS in chemical engineering along with Colorado certified water system operations and professional engineering licenses. As a treatment specialist for Aurora Water, Brad gained practical, hands-on operational experience and had the opportunity to stand in the client’s shoes. Now, he delivers excellent client service and thoughtfully crafts solutions that are highly considerate of both the client’s needs and operator preferences. Brad recently co-authored a series of treatment process optimization articles appearing in AWWA’s Opflow publication in 2009. He routinely authors and presents technical papers at regional and national water conferences.

Brad’s seven years of professional experience includes a variety water, wastewater, environmental, and petroleum engineering projects for municipal, commercial, and government clients. His primary expertise is drinking water treatment and process optimization, specifically in the area of disinfection byproduct control and granular activated carbon (GAC) adsorption. His professional experience includes water treatment plant operations, process evaluation, design and operation, bench- and pilot-scale testing, in-situ environmental remediation and environmental engineering field support.

Ryan Loebach, PE
Ryan brings strong facility design and construction administration competencies to the Drinking Water Team. Ryan has five years of consulting engineering experience; three of those were with Malcolm Pirnie in Phoenix, AZ, where he helped design improvements to one of the more advanced large treatment plants in Arizona. In addition, Ryan is particularly versed in controls system design and development of technical specifications – he is a Certified Construction Documents Technologist by the Construction Specification Institute. Finally, his BS in chemical engineering provides him with a strong process background to nicely complement his detailed design skills.

Ryan has experience in a variety of municipal water distribution system, water treatment plant, wastewater collection system and wastewater treatment plant projects. His experience includes water modeling for distribution system master planning, booster pump station design, water treatment plant process planning, design and construction, water and wastewater pipeline design and construction, wastewater treatment plant planning, and wastewater collection system planning, design and construction.

David Schieldt, EI
David joined SGM in 2008 and holds a BS in civil engineering from Colorado State University. In his 18 months of professional experience with SGM, David has proven to be a quick study who consistently delivers highly responsive, high-quality service to internal and external clients. He has taken on a wide variety of challenges in a short time with project experience that now includes water quality monitoring, sensory water quality testing program implementation, water treatment system design, water and wastewater pipeline design, pumping systems design, wastewater collection system analysis, park and trail grading and layout, and floodplain modeling. In addition, David has compiled approval packages for Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment review for both water and wastewater system improvements. Finally, he has helped to acquire wetlands permits from the US Army Corps of Engineers for compliance with Section 404 of the Clean Water Act.

The Drinking Water Team routinely integrates staff members of SGM’s Water Resources, Watershed Consulting, Structural, Survey, and CAD Production Teams into its project teams. In addition, several of SGM’s principals with decades of municipal drinking water consulting experience routinely serve as senior project advisors/reviewers. Our long-standing relationships with several experienced electrical, mechanical, geotechnical, and instrumentation/control consultants rounds-out our ability to produce complete engineering solutions.
