Senior Water Resources Engineer - Glenwood Springs, CO
Schmueser Gordon Meyer, Inc. (SGM) is currently seeking a senior water resources engineer to lead its Water Resources Team and grow its Western Colorado-based water resources engineering business. The Water Resources Team Leader will develop, market, and lead delivery of comprehensive water resources consulting services to existing and new clients, especially municipalities, water districts, and water conservancy districts. Additional clients include those in the energy industry and other private sector markets. More specifically, the Water Resources Team Leader will:
- Develop, market, and lead the delivery of water resources engineering services, including:
- Water Rights Engineering
- Water Supply Planning
- New water source identification and evaluation
- Physical supply/firm yield analysis
- Reservoir and Dam Planning, Permitting, Analysis, and Design
- Surface Water Intake Planning, Permitting, Analysis, and Design
- Groundwater Hydrogeology and Well Planning, Permitting, Analysis, and Design
- Water Conservation and Drought Planning and Program Implementation
- Hydrologic and Hydraulic Analysis and Modeling
- Elevate SGM’s visibility as a water resources firm within Colorado’s water resources community, and especially among potential Western Slope clients, through active involvement in professional organizations and local/regional water groups, and participation in seminars, conferences, etc.
- Adeptly manage projects and client relationships
- Manage and mentor mid- and entry-level water resource engineers
Minimum qualifications for the successful candidate are:
- Strong communication, client management, business development, project management, staff supervision and mentoring skills
- Solid reputation among Colorado, preferably Western Slope, water attorneys, existing/potential clients, the Division of Water Resources, and the water community, in general
- Ability to develop new business in the short term
- Licensed as a Colorado PE
- ≥10 years of consulting engineering experience
- ≥15 to 20 years of water resources engineering experience in Colorado
- Previous success with acquiring outside funding for clients/projects
- Software experience/proficiency
- GIS
- Decision Support System Analysis Tools (StateMod, MODSIM-DSS, etc.)
- Hydrology and open-channel flow hydraulics software
- HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, HEC-ResSim, Flo-2D, etc
- Experience authoring technical articles and delivering conference presentations
- Active member of relevant professional organizations
