Transportation Team Leader - Glenwood Springs

Our Glenwood office is currently seeking a Transportation Team Leader.

The ideal candidate will proficiently complete or perform the following tasks:

  • Traffic analysis of alternative designs during planning, NEPA and project development/design phases
  • Traffic design for inclusion in Plans, Specification and Estimate (PS&E) packages
  • Performance of traffic safety analyses and safety assessments
  • Identification of data requirements and data collection methods
  • Use of Traffic engineering tools, such as:

Position Description

This position requires a BS in Civil Engineering or related field with a current Colorado PE license or the ability to obtain one in a short period of time.  The successful candidate must be a well-rounded engineer who has experience in most aspects of:

Municipal Engineering Team Leader - Glenwood Springs

SGM is currently seeking a Municipal Engineering Team Leader for our Glenwood Springs office. The roles and responsibilities of a consulting municipal engineer vary depending on the type of client they are representing. Most importantly he or she must be a well-rounded engineer who has experience in most if not all aspects of municipal engineering including but not limited to:

  • land development and the application review process

Electrical Design Engineer - Glenwood Springs

SGM is currently seeking an Electrical Design Engineer for projects in our Glenwood Springs, CO office.  The position is full time.  This position requires a BS in Civil Engineering.

Minimum qualifications for the successful candidate are:

  • Projects include an interesting and diverse mix of commercial, industrial, and municipal projects
  • Self-motivated and strong communicator
  • Candidate will have the benefit of learning from and working under very experienced senior engineers and commissioning professionals until such time they are willing and able to serve in a lead design engineering role

Office Assistant - Durango

SGM is currently seeking a part-time Office Assistant for our Durango office to:

  • Answer calls and greet clients, with a professional and personable demeanor
  • Run errands for the office such as picking up supplies/lunch/etc.
  • Review technical writing, prepare written communication
  • Troubleshoot IT/networking issues (with support from IT department)
  • Demonstrate an excellent understanding of Microsoft Office
  • Perform routine clerical duties such as mail, office supply management, conference room and company vehicle scheduling
  • As work load allows, help with project tasks, data entry and other duties as assigned

  • The tentative schedule for this position is part-time (8-2 with an hour lunch) approximately 25 hours a week.

Civil Engineer - Glenwood Springs

SGM is currently seeking a Civil Engineer for our Glenwood Springs, CO office. This position requires a BS in Civil Engineering or related field with EIT registration. A minimum of two years of progressive experience is required with municipal infrastructure and development projects. Design experience shall include roadways, site design, utilities, and storm drainage systems. Experience with plan preparation for team coordination and permitting is preferred. Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D and Microsoft Office is required.

SGM is currently seeking an entry level (0-5 years) Structural Engineer for projects in our Grand Junction, CO office.  The position is full time.  This position requires a BS in Civil Engineering.

Minimum qualifications for the successful candidate are:

  • Strong desire to live, work and play in Western Colorado
  • Eagerness to learn the structural engineering discipline as part of an interdisciplinary project team on a broad range of project types
  • Experience with structural analysis and design software, as well as CADD
  • Experience in structural analysis, design and detailing of steel and concrete members

The successful candidate will possess strong technical skills and experience in the following areas:

  • Valid Colorado Driver’s License
  • Physically capable of performing typical land surveying tasks including ability to carry 50+ lbs. of survey gear through mountainous terrain

Civil CAD Designer - Glenwood Springs

SGM seeks a highly motivated, detail-oriented, self-starter to join our Glenwood Springs, CO staff as a CAD Designer as part of our Civil Services Sector. The successful candidate will bring strong capabilities and experience in AutoCAD Civil 3D (C3D) design for civil engineering projects.

This position includes C3D design work for projects related to land development, traffic/transportation, drainage, utility and water/wastewater systems for private and municipal clients. Typical projects will require the generation of construction plan sets in accordance with design and drafting standards of various review agencies. Typical elements of these projects include site layout, storm drainage, roads and pathways, grading plans, concrete and asphalt hardscape design including curb, gutter and sidewalks, utility infrastructure, water, sewer and storm sewer systems, and erosion and sediment control plans.

Typical duties and responsibilities of this position are:

  • Prepare complete sets of civil construction drawings using C3D, including sheet setup, plans, profiles, notes and details,
  • Work with engineers to design and layout a project using C3D upon receiving sufficient design information,
  • Manage digital files per company standards
  • Produce plans that conform to company design and drafting standards, minimizing QA/QC review time
  • Generate plans from scratch as well as handling redlines from engineers and project managers

Minimum qualifications for the successful candidate are:

  • 5 years of progressive experience with CAD drafting and design; minimum of 3 years of C3D design experience

Our Grand Junction Office seeks an experienced civil engineer to join our team.  The ideal candidate will have the ability to produce accurate and high-quality civil engineering designs and project specifications.  Most importantly, he or she must be a well-rounded engineer who has experience in most, if not all, aspects of civil and municipal engineering, including but not limited to:

  • The use of various engineering software available for design and analysis.  Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D, and various Autodesk add-on applications such as Water or Sewer CAD is highly preferred
  • General civil engineering including drainage analysis and design, site design and grading, hydraulic analysis and storm water management
  • Familiarity and/or proficiency with the design and construction of water and wastewater distribution and collection systems
  • Road and trail design and construction

Our Glenwood Springs Office seeks an experienced commissioning agent (CxA) to join our MEP team.  The ideal candidate will have the ability to produce accurate and high-quality designs, including but not limited to:

  • candidate will need to provide commissioning services and possibly, depending on experience, some mechanical design support for a variety of projects
  • These projects will have an interesting and diverse mix of commercial, industrial, and municipal projects. Self-motivation and strong communication is critical to success

Field Engineer - Glenwood Springs, CO

Our Glenwood Springs Office seeks an experienced field engineer to join our Construction Services team. The successful candidate will possess strong technical skills and experience in the following areas:

Minimum qualifications for the successful candidate are:

  • Self-motivated and strong communicator
  • Able to perform field work duties such as conducting inspections to assure compliance with Transportation / Engineering and Utility project documents
  • Act as the client’s representative to Contractors and the public on the assigned construction project
  • Conduct construction status meetings
  • Interpret standards, plans and specifications as requested by Contractor
  • Inspect, measure and document quantities of work items completed by the Contractor; review Contractor’s pay requests for accuracy
  • Document Contractor’s work for conformance with construction plans and specifications
  • Communicate with Contractor personnel on items that do not contract requirements and assure rework is completed in a satisfactory manner
  • Document various field materials tests to ensure compliance with project plans and specifications and other support as required
