Principal, President, CEO of Schmueser Gordon Meyer, Inc.
Louis Meyer, professional engineer (P.E.), principal and co-founder of SGM, has dedicated his career to the study and practice of civil engineering.
Meyer began his professional career soon after receiving his bachelor's degree in civil engineering at the University of Missouri in 1978. The summer following his graduation, Meyer was appointed as research project investigator for the United States Department of the Interior in the state of Missouri. There he worked on two water system designs, funded by the University of Missouri.
Upon completion of the projects, Meyer joined Black and Veatch Consulting Engineers, as resident engineer in the civil environmental field department.
In 1981, Meyer left Missouri to settle in Glenwood Springs, Colorado. As the Director of Water and Wastewater for the City of Glenwood Springs, Meyer managed the operation of water and wastewater plants and water distribution facilities.
Upon joining Schmueser & Associates in 1981, Meyer acted as project manager and engineer for a number of civil, sanitary and municipal projects. With S&A he performed engineering work across the entire western slope of Colorado including major municipal projects in the towns of Aspen, Carbondale, Meeker, Breckenridge, Crested Butte and Granby.
Meyer co-founded SGM in 1986 when he and fellow Schmueser & Associates engineer, Dean Gordon, purchased the engineering and surveying divisions of the company.
Meyer acts as chief executive officer, president and engineering principal of SGM. In his current role, Meyer continues to provide engineering services to a range of SGM clients as well as oversee the firm's business activities.
